His name isn't really Ismail. I just called him Ismail once and he didn't seem to mind.
Batumi, Georgia. My beloved Black sea
How much that hot, muddy, stony sea means to me...
I can't be modest. I LOVE this picture. You may totally ignore this photo if you wish. I promise I won't get mad.
I met "Ismail" in front of the gold market one day when my mom was inside pretending to shop, I'd like to add that it was a rainy day (big surprise) and my mom bough a silver hundred year old purse for 100 bucks.
He seemed transfixed, almost hypnotized by my camera so I started to snap a few shots. He still detained the same amazed expression with his sky blue eyes.
Then I showed him the picture I took.
He burst out laughing and in a moment of glory ran off after giving my legs a warm (and kinda muddy) hug.
A few days later my mom returned to the gold market to finish off a bargain she had started on her last visit. I not being able to stand the incomprehensible Georgian chattering and the unbearable smell of coffee mixed with sweat decided to once again wait outside.
Ismail was there.
Upon seeing me approach the car they were playing in, he hurried out and gave me a huge grin.
It's uncanny, this communication thing.
